Eyewear Trends For 2012

Just as each new year brings new fashion trends, and each season brings different styles, different types of eyewear move in and out of style from year to year. Here are a few notes on trending eyewear in 2012:

Glasses

The most noteworthy trend, and indeed the purely dominant trend in eyeglasses this year, is larger, black-rimmed glasses. Some have dubbed it the Clark Kent look, others call it Geek chic (think Zooey Deschanel) – but whatever your nickname for this trend, there is no denying their recent burst in popularity.

Everyone from Hollywood stars like Rashida Jones to NBA athletes like Lebron James are sporting these glasses in public, and the result is that they’re popping up just about everywhere. If you want to make an of-the-moment fashion statement with your glasses, larger frames and black rims are the way to go.

For Sunglasses

The two most noteworthy trends for sunglasses in 2012 are patterned frames and retro styles. As for patterns, it may be anything from a full out leopard print to a subtle design buried in a deeper color, but regardless, many people are purchasing sunglasses that aren’t simply solid colors.

Retro styles of sunglasses are also quite popular these days, and typically include larger styles. For example, the aviator sunglasses that you see everywhere can technically qualify as vintage, though they seem also to be somewhat timeless.

For Contacts

For contact lenses, trends tend to be more about health and new technology. Acuvue has developed a few new styles that are more adaptive to specific environments. The 1 Day Acuvue TruEye contacts are the latest types recommended for people who live in cities, while 1 Day Acuvue Moist contacts are recommended for people with allergies.

And if you’re on the hunt for contacts with a little sparkle that enhance eye definition, 1 Day Acuvue Define are contacts specifically designed to enhance your eyes’ beauty.
